Central Coast physical
drumming ensemble, The Rhythm Hunters performed at parliament house
in Sydney last month. The occasion was the NSW local government
cultural awards ceremony, held for the first time ever.
The cultural awards
ceremony acknowledged innovations and successes within the ranks of
local government for artistic and cultural endeavor. The Rhythm
Hunters were recommended by Gosford City Council to represent the
region extending from the Hawksbury to Newcastle and inland to the
Hunter.
Group members Rendra
Freestone & Sean Cadogan made the coast proud bringing ‘Drumming
Thunder’ onto the lavish marble floors & high ornate ceilings of the
historic building.
The Rhythm Hunters
manager Cherry Sojoski was swept up immediately with enquiries
regarding the group. “I was really proud to be working with these
guys at such an prestigious event, they really turned heads” said
Sojoski.
Other performers on the
evening included the world class Martinez Brothers, Aboriginal
dancers from Tweed Heads and a Sydney based Belly Dance troupe.
