The
Rhythm Hunters perform at corporate functions, community events,
cultural ceremonies, gallery openings and music festivals.
Deep
resounding rhythms are pounded out on large, Australian-made
wine barrel Taiko. Music is punctuated with tight physical
choreography including complex stick-throwing routines; fast
interlocking patterns on bronze Talempong and a melodic family
of ornate pacific wood blocks.
Melodies are played on wind instruments including the vibrant
horn-like flute called the Saluang and some of its close
relatives, the Sampelong and Bansi, also from Sumatra.
While
The Rhythm Hunters are exclusively an Australian group, the
stronger musical influences come from Japan, Indonesia and the
experience of its members.
The Rhythm Hunters are also
happy to help design and create a specific show to suit your event.
